​As the weeks have gone by this term, I have been reminded, on a daily basis, that I have found myself surrounded by a lovely community full of kind, generous and gracious people. I have always talked with my children about the importance of being kind and the fact that, sometimes, it takes courage to be kind, especially when it means pushing against the current of your peers. I often say to my son, “Be the kindest man in the room. Kindness is free to give but priceless to receive.” It is important, if not imperative, for us to strive to be a little better every day, better at schoolwork, better at the sports and games we choose to play, better at the relationships we have, and it is just as important for us to strive to be a little kinder every day. Kindness is a tangible characteristic of this community. I see it between students, between siblings, between parents and staff. I can see that when someone is struggling a little, there are always people there who care and are visibly supportive. I particularly see this when students are challenged by the traditional learning environment that schools innately are, and how students, staff and parents afford them the inclusivity and flexibility they require to learn in a different way. I am very grateful for this. Thank you.
